About Brimley State Park
Brimley State Park sits on Whitefish Bay, the easternmost bay of Lake Superior, in Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula near Sault Ste. Marie. The 100-acre park is anchored by a large modern campground of 237 sites — level, grassy, and shaded along its eastern and southern boundaries by heavy woods, with a vegetated windbreak separating the campsites from the Lake Superior shoreline.
Sites offer 20/30-amp electric service, with a few unpaved pull-over sites carrying 50-amp service. A mini cabin and group-use area add options beyond standard camping, and three accessible modern restroom and shower buildings serve the campground along with a seasonal sanitation station.
Things to Do
The sandy Whitefish Bay beach is the park's centerpiece — swimming and sunset watching over one of Lake Superior's calmer bays, sheltered somewhat from the open lake's rougher water. Fishing is popular along the shoreline, and the park's location near Sault Ste. Marie puts the Soo Locks and the Tahquamenon Falls area within easy day-trip range.
Best Time to Visit
Summer offers the best swimming weather on Whitefish Bay, while shoulder seasons bring quieter camping in the heavily wooded sites. The campground typically operates April through November.
