About Twin Lakes State Park
Twin Lakes State Park sits along the western shore of Lake Roland near Toivola, in the Upper Peninsula between Houghton and L'Anse. The modern campground offers 62 sites with lakefront options, giving campers direct water access without the crowds of the busier Keweenaw parks further north. The park recently completed a round of infrastructure improvements, reopening with refreshed facilities.
Sites carry 20- and 30-amp service, with 50-amp available on some sites, plus a sanitation station and a water fill station for non-plumbed facilities. A mini cabin sleeping four with electricity, heating, and appliances gives non-tent campers a comfortable option.
Things to Do
Lake Roland has a designated swimming beach and boating access right at the campground, making it an easy, low-effort lake stay. The park's position between Houghton and L'Anse also puts it within reach of both the Keweenaw Peninsula to the north and the western UP's Ottawa National Forest lakes and trails to the south.
Best Time to Visit
Summer is peak season for the swim beach and boating access. The campground typically operates April through November, with recently upgraded facilities making any season more comfortable than before the renovation.
